Summer Nails Through the Years: 2017
Long time, no see, Polished People! I’ve missed sharing new content with you and I just want to have fun with what I’m creating, so I hope you’ll enjoy this new series of blog posts.
Since this year, in 2023, we’re celebrating over SIX YEARS of threesixtynails, I wanted to go back in time and share a few of my favorite summer nail designs from each of those six years. So, even though some of the photo quality may not be the greatest from years past (yikes, sorry, haha), I hope that these posts will give you some mani inspiration for our current summer season. And, if you’ve been around here for a long time, maybe it’ll even be a trip down memory lane for you. :)
I know I did a lot of nail art in 2017, so today I have seven manicures to share with you. Let’s get into it!
1. Palm Tree Nails

Created with a palm tree nail art stencil and topped off with some sparkly glitter, this mani gives very fun festival vibes!
I adore the colors of this mani! I’m definitely more of a seasonal nail polish-wearer, but bright shades like these are some of my favorites no matter what.
2. Ice Cream Nails

Whether you’re a fan of mint chocolate chip, double chocolate, strawberry, Neopolitan swirl, or all four flavors, these nail designs are so sweet for summer.
I remember loving the idea of using a black crackle polish to help out with the mint chocolate chip design! I’d actually love to re-create these designs one day, so maybe you’ll see that on my YouTube channel sometime soon. :)
3. Charlie Brown Nail Art

Good grief! This cute mani is sure to add some comic strip nostalgia to your summer.
During the early summer months of 2017, I had been enjoying songs from the You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown musical as well as the animated Peanuts by Schulz series (I think it was on Cartoon Network back then, haha), so this mani was a lot of fun for me. I’m still so proud of the Snoopy design! It’s definitely one of my all-time favorites.
4. Undersea Mermaid Sparkle Mani

A mani perfect that brings the beach to you! These glowy, turquoise types of polishes are great for beating the heat.
I just love how these polishes look in this photo! They’re really giving me those under-the-sea vibes with their dimension and shimmer! Layering blue/turquoise jelly polish with some glitter would be such a cool way to achieve a similar look.
5. Kawaii S’more Nail Art

Kawaii everything seemed to be all the rage back in 2017, right? And these adorable nail designs are your perfectly cute companions for campfire adventures.
I’ve always been a big fan of kawaii things (still am!) so this design just makes me smile. I’ve actually been watching some of my favorite throwback kawaii DIY and baking videos that I remember from Summer 2017 while writing this blog post, so it’s been an absolute blast…from the past. *ba-dum-bum, lol* Sorry, couldn’t resist!
6. Minimal Pineapple Mani
From August 5th, 2017
Add any tropical fruit to a plain mani and you’ve got instant, summer-ready nails.
The mani on the left is actually the FIRST-EVER mani I posted on my old Google Docs nail blog back in 2016, but I decided to re-create it (mani on the right) one year later to celebrate my “blogiversary” on this blog. And now, my seven-year (wow!) blogiversary is coming up this August, so maybe I should give this mani another makeover then!
7. Adorable Mint-and-Gold Mermaid Mani

For those times when you want to give your nails a bit of bling! A mermaid scale stencil also makes this so simple.
This is one of my all-time favorite manis! I really like the color combo, my nail shape, and how cute and summery it is. I don’t wear 3D charms very often (ever, haha) so this was definitely something different. I don’t think I wore it for very long, but it was a fun design to create.
I really enjoyed sharing all of these throwback manis with you! With 2017 being my first year with this blog, as well as the start of my YouTube channel in the latter half of the year, I have so many fond memories from this time period, so it was very special to get to look back on them with you.
