2 Ways to Wear Gold Glitter for a Minimal Manicure

Glitter-bomb polishes and nail art are not for everyone. They might be super trendy, but for a lot of us, the dread of removing it after a while is what holds us back. Personally, I don’t usually like to wear a ton of glitter because I hate scrubbing it off after!

Adding a dash of glitter is a really easy way to add some spice to a plain mani, but it can be a pain to come up with an incorporation idea that doesn’t involve pounds of it. So let’s chat about two ways to wear glitter that’ll keep it minimal but still sparkly.

1. Add a couple sparkly stripes over a neutral color

This is such a simple technique for adding a dash of glam to your nude/neutral manicures. You can use a striping brush if you have one, but if not, you can totally use a dotting tool or toothpick to stipple on your gold glitter of choice.

I really like pairing rosy neutrals like this one from Sally Hansen with gold glitter, especially a warmer-toned type like this one from Olive & June. Other nice options would be a soft taupe, a plain white, a plain black, a mauve pink—anything you like really!

2. Brush on some glitter-gradient tips

This has been a go-to mani of mine for years! It’s really quick to do too. You don’t need any tools; once you have your base color on and dry, just swipe on some glitter and call it a day. You can dab it up your nail a bit to add a gradient effect, you can layer it up—whatever you want!

I love this look over pastel pinks like this one from Sally Hansen, light purples, light blues, bright red. This design is super versatile, so you could add this over any base color during any season. Bonus hack: If you have some tip-wear on a current plain manicure, add the glitter over top to get another couple days out of it!

I am so excited to kick off the first post in this series! I’ve been super inspired by fashion content lately, so I want to bring that energy to nail polish styling too.

What’s your opinion on gold glitter? Would you wear it either of these ways? Comment below!

Have a polished rest of your day,
