Hi, there, Polished People! I hope you're doing well. Today, I'm sharing an interview with Simone, the creator of Beautymone, a fabulous blog for everything beauty-related. So, today, we're going to get to know her better and hear her story. Let's get started...

Good morning, Simone! I’m so happy to have you here on our digital talk show. Here’s a virtual armchair and a virtual mug. Let’s get started with some biz questions. When did you first decide/realize you wanted to be a blogger?
A couple of years ago. I’ve started a blog multiple times, to then quit again because I was so insecure. 2.5 years ago I finally decided to take it seriously and created Beautymone.
I'm so glad you did! What inspired you to start this business?
I was obsessed with beauty and I didn’t have any friends who felt the same [about beauty]. So I felt like I couldn’t share my passion with anyone. I decided to create a Twitter account where I could talk a bit more about beauty and connect with others, but I then realized I wanted a platform of my own where I could share my thoughts, reviews and swatches.
That's awesome! What’s the story behind the name of your blog?
It’s actually a combination of ‘beauty’ and my name ‘Simone’ – the last part of my name just got attached to beauty and tadaa! Beautymone was born. My friend actually came up with this idea, since I always go to her for creative ideas! I wanted a personal name but I also wanted to make
sure my niche was clear.
Such a fun idea, very cool. What’s your favorite blog post/piece of content you’ve ever created?
That’s a tough one! I personally love to write makeup reviews the most and I think one of my favorite ones has to be the Kylie Cosmetics Holiday 2019 Collection review. I bought pretty much the whole collection and for some reason, that makes me even more excited to review it.
Awesome. What are your favorite things about your brand?
My swatch photography! Swatching makeup is therapeutic to me and I just love how aesthetically pleasing swatches of makeup look, haha.
Your blog/IG photos always look gorgeous! Have you always been in the beauty industry?
I have been wearing makeup since I was 12, but I wasn’t really active in the beauty industry just yet. I think I was about 14-15 years when I started watching makeup tutorials on YouTube and then I slowly started to be more invested in the beauty industry. I’m 23 years now, for your reference.

So interesting. So, what was the biggest milestone in your entrepreneurship/blogging journey?
The first time hitting 10K monthly views was a huge milestone for me! Also, I recently had my first ever affiliate sale and this felt like a huge milestone as well.
That's great, congratulations! Now, let's move on to some more personal questions. What’s your favorite color to wear on your nails?
Pink! Mostly pinky nudes.
Always a good choice! What’s your favorite type of makeup to wear?
Eyeshadow and lipstick. I love to play with eyeshadow and I won’t leave the house without lipstick (okay only if there’s an emergency, lol).
Definitely my faves too! What is your favorite trend in the beauty world right now?
Pastel colors for eye shadow (lilac is my fave) as well as monochromatic looks. I love them!
Those are cool trends, I agree. What is your favorite thing you get to do as a blogger?
I love to connect with other bloggers! In the meantime, I have met other bloggers which I consider as friends now. I think that’s so awesome!
Making connections with others in the blog industry is always great. That's how you're interviewing here now! What about this: if you had to choose one makeup product to be stranded on an island with, what would it be?
Oh no, how am I supposed to choose? I think I would go for a cream blush, that’s easy to put on your lips as well as your eyes too, haha.
Good choice. What is your favorite thing about being an entrepreneur/blogger?
Being able to do what I love most! The freedom, deciding where I want to take my blog/business. There are so many benefits.
So awesome. What advice would you give to someone interested in starting a blog like this?
Start reading lots and lots of articles about starting a blog. I wish I learned about SEO, email marketing and social media strategies before I started my blog. I think I could’ve made an easier start if I knew more about the 'behind the scenes' of blogging.
I agree, that's super important. Great advice! Thank you for being a part of Sunshine Sessions, Simone!
