Disney Descendants 2 Nail Art Series: Jay and Carlos ~ threesixtynails Pop Culture Series ~ Step-by-Step

Good evening, everyone! I'm back with more wicked nail art. This week, we're creating nail designs inspired by Jay and Carlos, son of Jafar and son of Cruella De Vil. The Carlos design is actually one of my favorites from this whole series.

Like last week, these designs are more inspired by their D2 looks than the D1 outfits. The VK guys got to do a lot more singing and dancing in the sequel to this Disney Channel blockbuster. "I'm excited to see every number because I think that every number has something in it where you just go, 'Whoa, that's cool,'" said Cameron Boyce, who plays Carlos.

Their characters also go through some changes as well. "[Jay] starts out as a one-man show--even though he hangs out with these friends, he wants what's best for himself... But he finds out that to get what we want, we should work together. He doesn't realize that what's he's really saying is 'We need to be a family'--something none of them have had," Booboo Stewart, who plays Jay, revealed, discussing the metamorphosis that he and his fellow characters go through in the sequel.

So, now, onto the nail art! Below is the polishes/tools list and the step-by-step for each of the designs. Enjoy!

Step 1: After base coat, apply a coat of light grey polish that matches the color that Carlos wears most often--this will be your base color.

Step 2: Add an almost chevron-like swipe of metallic red to one corner of the nail. Then grab a detailing nail art brush or toothpick and some black acrylic paint; grunge up the edge of the red and grey and the rest of the nail with thin and uneven black swipes/splatters.

Step 3: To create the De Vil icon, make two white dots and two black dots in a box shape. Fill in each side with its same color to create the crossbones.

Step 4: Add top coat to protect your wicked new nail design!

Step 1: After base coat, choose three colors--dark red, gold-ish-yellow, and dark blue--that match Jay's outfit pretty well. Make three diagonal stripes (they don't have to be perfect) across your nail; clean up anything that gets on your sidewalls and cuticle.

Step 2: Using a dotting tool, create some "studs" with gold and/or silver polish across each stripe.

Step 3: Protect with top coat!

These are pretty simple and really cool! Who's your favorite character from Descendants? Comment below and I may feature him/her next post! Also, guess what?!
