Sunday Devotional: He is the Gentle Storm

After God had dusted powdered sugar down onto the earth, His white outline of icy lace defined every one of His branches; the whole earth was washed clean in His snow. Every flake that fell was a unique piece of art with its own beautiful angle and shape, but it melted into a blanket with every other snowflake to cover the earth as God intended, yet God numbered each one and knew it.

The snowflakes landed on my cheeks as softly as butterfly steps, reminding me of God’s gentleness. Just as God covers the earth in white, He covers us in His Son’s righteousness. Just as feathery white snow can cover a mound of dirt, so it is with Jesus’ love over us.

His snow shows us how he knows every branch every flake lands on. He made all of it and knows each branch’s curve, each flake’s destination. God is an intricate artist, a detailed designer Who’s formed every inch of the earth with His loving, powerful hands. And after He’s dusted powdered sugar down onto the earth, He reminds us of Who He is.

A snowstorm can be powerful and dangerous but the flakes that make it up are gentle and able to cover all. God’s snow reminds us that He is the most powerful storm but He is also the most gentle artist.

I recently learned about this incredible missions organization and I wanted to share a little bit about it with you.
