Good morning, Jessica! I’m so happy to have you here on our digital talk show. Here’s a virtual armchair and a virtual mug. Let’s get started with some biz questions. When did you first dream up your Nailstagram?

I actually got into “Nailstagramming” by accident. I’ve always loved doing my nails, but one day I decided to post a design and it kind of took off from there.

Very cool! What inspired you to start this account?

Nothing really inspired it; it was a total accident! But once I started going, my page just kept growing!

That's great. So, what’s the story behind the name of your account?

So, this is weird. I don’t know if you remember the social media site Xanga; it was kind of like a blog site. I saw someone with the name "whoaAshley" and I loved it so much I created "whoa_its_jessica."

That's so interesting! What’s your favorite nail art look you’ve ever created?

This is a hard one. Probably the Jason Voorhees mani I recently created for Halloween.

Nice! So, what are your favorite things about being a Nailstagrammer?

Interacting with other people in the nail community! It’s great to have a community you can turn to with questions and advice! This community has been so amazing to me over the years. Also, collabing with some very talented ladies!

I agree, the nail art/polish community is particularly lovely. Have you always been in the nails/beauty industry?

I’ve always loved doing makeup, but when I started doing nails, it came as second nature. I’ve been doing nails since 2011! I wouldn’t say I’m really in the beauty industry, but it is my favorite hobby!

That's awesome. What was the biggest milestone in your entrepreneurship journey?

Finally collabing with China Glaze! I’ve always wanted to work with them and this past month, that dream came true! Now I need to peg Essie & OPI. 😉

Congratulations! So, onto some more personal questions; what’s your favorite color to wear on your nails?

Black.

Good choice! What is your favorite nail art trend right now?

My favorite trend would have to be minimalism; even though I’ve never tried it myself, there is just something very appealing about it.

Minimal nail art is great. What is your favorite thing to do as a swatcher/nail artist?

Over the top color! I’m a huge fan of crazy combos and color!

Always great! So, if you had to choose one nail polish or nail care item to be stranded on an island with, what would it be?

Oh, geez! This is a hard one. It would probably have to be a Bliss Kiss cuticle oil! It's my favorite, and even though I wouldn’t get to paint my nails. at least they would be healthy and strong.

That sounds like a plan. What is your favorite thing about being a content creator?

Everything! But I really enjoy [it] when I can inspire others!

That's wonderful. So for our last question, what advice would you give to someone who’s interested in starting an Instagram account for nail art/swatches?

Showcase your talent to the best of your ability. Always tag brands, mention brands in stories so they get a direct message. Also, a giveaway here and there never hurts to grow your page!

That’s great advice! Thank you for visiting us at Sunshine Sessions, Jessica!
