3 Ways to Stay Healthy Right Now [in the Nail Industry]

Hi, Polished People. I hope you're all safe, healthy, and surrounded by family/friends. Since there's so much going on right now, I wanted to put together a post outlining a few things you can do to stay healthy as a nail enthusiast. Let's take a look, I'll try to keep this short.

#1 Wash your hands

I know you've all heard this a billion times by now, but I wanted to mention it to remind you guys of something else important, especially if you're a nail nerd like me. Whenever you wash your hands, don't forget your nails! Make sure you properly clean/wash under your nails, as this is where a lot of bacteria and cells can build up. You can also use a nail scrubber for a deep-clean. And make sure you're keeping your cuticles/sidewalls healthy; those parts of your nails are very, very important to keeping germs out of your body. If you cut your cuticles (which I don't recommend anyway), definitely don't do that now. Your cuticles are your nails' first defense, so please keep them intact.

#2 Continuously clean electronics

Your hands, fingers, and nails are always touching phone screens and typing on keyboards. Be sure you're disinfecting these areas repeatedly. Especially if you have longer nails, it's easy for bacteria to build up on these surfaces and get under your nails. Plus, phones often collect germs from your face, hands, other surfaces, and other people who've touched the phone. Make sure you're wiping down any and all electronics you use to keep them as clean as possible.

#3 Don't share nail polishes, nail tools, or any personal beauty products

Just as an extra precaution, avoid sharing your nail polishes or tools with anybody and don't use anybody else's. You never know what was on someone's nails or skin when they last used a polish or tool, so just be wise and careful. Additionally, don't share makeup, skin care, or anything else you use personally.

I'm by no means a healthcare professional, but these are a few common-sense things I think everybody should keep in mind. Just be safe and stay healthy. Make good choices and be careful. If you have further questions about your nail care/health, ask a healthcare professional or a licensed nail tech/nail salon professional.

I really hope all of you are doing well. Remember to stay positive and keep sunshine in mind. I'll be back with a more lighthearted blog post very soon. For now, if you need a chance to relax and want to get your mind off all the craziness in the world, I have a brand-new haul video on my YouTube channel. This video has become the longest video I've ever had on my channel, but if you have some time on your hands, I hope you enjoy. Have a polished rest of your day,

- Cali
