Disney Descendants 2 Nail Art Series: Mal and Evie ~ threesixtynails Pop Culture Series ~ Step-by-Step
Good afternoon, everybody! I'm so excited for today's post, as it's the start of two new series that I adore: the Disney Descendants 2 Nail Art Series and the threesixtynails Pop Culture Series. The Pop Culture Series will feature nail art inspired by pop culture such as movies, books, brands, video games, and more! Plus, you'll get some info and pics about/from the movie to go along with the nail art. So, for our super-fun Descendants 2 Series, we're starting with the iconic best friends and practically sisters, Mal and Evie.

On the left are their D2 looks and the right are their original costumes. Which do you like better? I'll probably go with D2. All the designs for this series were inspired by Descendants 2 where all the fashion was brought up several levels. Sofia Carson, who plays Evie, says that Evie is "literally living her fairytale" in Descendants 2, where she's a fashion designer and business woman.

There are so many costume and look changes for Mal in Descendants 2 as she goes on a journey of self-discovery, and her character gets even more layered. Dove Cameron, who plays Mal, was having such a fantastic time, she said: "Every single day on this set feels like the best day of my life."
So, now onto the nail art! Below is the polishes/tools list and the step-by-step for each of the designs. Enjoy!

Detailing Nail Art Brush or Toothpick
Dotting Tool or Toothpick
Step 1: After base coat, grab a purple polish, as similar to Mal's general purple color as you want or can, and use that as your base color.
Step 2: Now get a detailing nail art brush or toothpick and any green polish, again as similar to Mal's general green color as you want or can. Look at a picture of Mal and make some whispy fire-like shapes with the green to replicate the designs on her jacket.
Step 3: One thing every VK has on their outfits, no matter what, is studs, mostly chunky gold studs. Grab your favorite gold polish (tarnished, antique, or steely will do) and a dotting tool or toothpick to fill in space with gold studs.
Step 4: Seal your design in with top coat and you're finished!
Step 1: After base coat, use an "Evie blue" polish as your base color.
Step 2: Using a large dotting tool or the back of a paintbrush and preferably metallic or shimmery red polish, create two big dots in the center of the nail, closer to the tip, leaving plenty of room on the other almost-half of the nail.
Step 3: Connect the dots to create a heart with a toothpick or detailing brush.
Step 4: Slightly above the heart, use gold polish and a detailing brush or toothpick to draw a crown; it's simple, just three triangles connected together.
Step 5: Once the crown is dry, go back in with your base color and draw a small crack on the right side base of it.
Step 6: Finish the design by filling in the empty space with gold dots as studs, and once dry, protect with top coat.
