How-To: Kawaii Nail Polish Nail Art ~ Step-by-Step! ~ NB Feature Announcment

Good morning, all! In celebration of hitting 600+ followers on Instagram, I hosted a kawaii-themed collaboration. Turns out, the due date ended up being two days after I hit 1000+ followers. Oh, well. ☺ Great job, ladies; all your nail art for the Kawaii Collab is some of the cutest I've ever seen! Be sure to follow all these lovely girls to see their kawaii manis up close and to see the rest of their beautiful nail designs.

I got a lot of likes and sweet comments on the mani I created for the collab (thanks to all who liked and left nice comments!), so I figured I'd teach you all how to create your own version at home. This mani is pretty easy and it's fun because you can choose a color palette or your favorite polish colors for the tiny polish bottles. :) So, below is a polishes/tools list (links to products provided by the threesixtynails Nail Shop) and a step-by-step. Enjoy!

Polishes/Tools I used to create this design:

Zoya: Anchor Basecoat

OPI: Suzi Without A Paddle *Unavailable :(OPI: Getting Nadi On My Honeymoon *Unavailable :(OPI: Polly Want A Lacquer? *Unavailable :(OPI: Two-Timing the Zones *Unavailable :(

Craft Smart Acrylic Paint Value Pack: Black

INM: Out the Door Topcoat

Detailing Nail Art Brush

Step 1:

After basecoat, choose a polish that will make your designs over it really stand out or compliment the color palette and paint all your nails with that. Let dry 2-3 minutes between coats and 4-10 minutes before adding nail art.

Step 2:

Grab a toothpick or detailing nail art brush and black acrylic paint or polish. Draw some squares and then add another line, a tad thicker, on a side of the square for the cap. Make this shape as many times as you like/can fit on your nail. Try adding some that go off the nail a bit to add interest to the pattern.

Step 3:

Using the toothpick or detailing brush again, use the colors you picked out for the tiny polishes and fill in your squares. If you want, overlap the black lines a bit so that the lines appear thinner if you made them thicker. Let dry 3-4 minutes.

Step 4:

Time to turn these polish bottles into kawaii polish bottles! Use your brush or toothpick again and carefully make little faces on the polishes. They should follow the same basic steps: black dot (eye), black dot (eye), and a black C-shape right between the eyes or just below the eyes (mouth). Once the eyes are dry, make two tiny white "shine" dots in each eye.

Step 5:

Once all this cuteness is dry, add a fast-drying topcoat to keep this adorable print protected on your nails.
