Good evening, all! Last week, in my nail polish haul, you saw the cute Piggy Paint set that I picked up. I thought the set was so cute and I really wanted to see how the polishes function. FYI, this post is not sponsored by Piggy Paint. So let’s get started!
Before we talk about the polishes, here’s a little “about” for Piggy Paint, courtesy of piggypaint.com and Melanie Hurley:
“My name is Melanie Hurley, founder of Piggy Paint. I am a mom with two very fancy little girls, ages 6 and 8, who love to have their fingernails painted. I’ve always hated the thought of my kiddos putting their hands in their mouths after I painted their nails with traditional kid polishes. Not only did the ingestion of the chemicals worry me, but the smell nearly left me light-headed after painting two sets of fingernails and toenails. One day while we were painting nails over a foam plate, my daughter dropped a glob of her solvent-based polish onto the plate. Shortly after, the paint began to bubble and “ate” through the plate. I looked in dismay at the hole in the plate and decided to test all of her other “kid” polishes on the foam. Within minutes, ALL of the solvent-based polishes began to bubble and eventually left big holes in the plate (Click to see plate). From that day on, I decided that any flammable substance that could eat through foam was unacceptable for my children’s fingernails, which would inevitably end up in their mouths. My quest was on, and Piggy Paint was born. As you may have guessed, our polish is NOT flammable and sits beautifully on the unaffected foam. We hope you enjoy this water-based polish that is specially formulated of natural ingredients. Finally, a kid-friendly polish without the accompanying drawbacks of traditional polishes. It is free of formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone… and made in the USA! From my heart to yours, I hope Piggy Paint takes the worry out of painting your nails and puts the fun back into this enjoyable activity you can share with your daughter and other precious girls in your life. Say good-bye to harsh, smelly chemicals and hello to Piggy Paint . . . it’s as Natural as Mud®!”
Now that you know the backstory of Piggy Paint, here are the swatches I did! First, we have “Forever Fancy”, which is a hot-pink shimmer and is completely opaque in two coats.
This was my favorite out of the set and I think I’ll be using it for springtime manicures this season. 🙂 Next is “Sea-quin”, which is a teal-ish sky blue cream and is completely opaque in two and a half to three coats.
This one is a cute color, however, I found it to be pretty streaky, thick, and not very smooth. This will be great for flower accents, though! Finally we’ve got “Girls Rule!”, which is a fuchsia/magenta purple shimmer and is completely opaque in two coats.
This one has a similar formula to “Forever Fancy” and I’d like to use it over the summer for bright manis. Also, one of my favorite things about this set is the adorable nail file that comes with it! ☺
Okay, so now that you’ve seen how sweet these polishes are and how great the ingredients are, whether you have some little nail artists or would like some natural alternatives, here is your link to purchase this set! There’s also an option for a different set with some more cute colors in this link provided by the threesixtynails Nail Shop. Click the image below to shop more Piggy Paint fun!
