Good morning, everyone! Thank you for all the likes on the ombre mani I posted on Instagram (@threesixtynails) yesterday! I asked if you’d like to see a step-by-step for it today, and all the likes told me yes. 🙂 So, let’s begin…
Below is the polishes/tools list so you can find the products I used and the step-by-step is below that. Enjoy!
Polishes/Tools I used to create this design:
OPI: Polly Want A Lacquer? *Unavailable 🙁
Apply a basecoat to begin–next grab the lightest color of your ombre and apply one coat to your nails; let dry 2-3 minutes. Also, quick tip: an ombre is different from a gradient; a gradient is “gradual” blending between different colors and an ombre is a transition of shades in the same color family!
Now apply your chosen colors in horizontal stripes on a makeup sponge, slightly overlapping each other, and sponge 1-5 times on your nail. Use some liquid latex, clear tape, or other latex-free substitute to help with cleanup later. Let dry 1-3 minutes between coats of sponging; let dry 2-5 minutes when done.
Optionally, to blend the colors together nicely, add a medium amount of topcoat (medium meaning not too thin and not too thick) over your nails. Let dry 1-5 minutes.
Now apply a layer of any glitter or confetti glitter topper you like to add some extra detail! Let dry 3-5 minutes.
Finish your design off with another more generous amount of topcoat to keep your mani nice and secure and lasting as long as possible. Don’t forget to cap the tip!
Pretty easy, right? Ombres and gradients are always good because you can choose your favorite colors, plus glitter and confetti always adds some detail! What are your favorite colors for gradients? Comment below!
Before we finish off today, I’m revealing the theme for the nail art collaboration I’ll be hosting on Instagram. Thank you to all the suggestions! So, here’s the first hint: nail artists are super. Any guesses? The collab theme is…
🙂 DC Super Hero Girls 🙂
If you haven’t heard of these super girls, they are a newer “brand” designed by DC and Mattel with a book series, two movies (and one forthcoming), and toy line. The theme of the brand is to empower girls in how unique and special each of them is! Nail Artists are super heroes, so that’s where the inspiration for this collab comes from. ☺ There will be a list of all the DC Super Hero Girls posted on Instagram (@threesixtynails) later today.–claim yours through DM or comment to join once the list is up!
